First German Hitching Spot

Welcome on the way to the first hitch hiking spot in Germany!

Jenny hitch hikes at the hitching spot
in Den Haag

This initiative tries to make travels from Berlin and Potsdam easier, faster and safer. To reach this goal, we want the City Parliament of Potsdam to put up a lay-by at the B2 near the Potsdam Hauptbahnhof.
At this spot, comparable to a bus stop, car drivers will be able to stop safely and take hitchhikers either to the gas station in Michendorf, or even straight on in the direction of Magdeburg & Hanover (west), Leipzig & Munich (south), or Frankfurt/Oder & Poznan (east). Up to now, most hitchhikers march 40 minutes from Michendorf train station to Michendorf gas station, including about 7 minutes right next to the highway.
Having the new spot, it will be possible to arrive by S-Bahn and to put up the thumb after a 200 m walk.

With this action, we hope to increase the social acceptance of hitch hiking as a means of transport, as there is still a community of hitchhikers who try to travel in an ecological and efficient manner, and get to know to new people.

Stop, because "A stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet"!
