The Grass roots Association of the Green Youth Potsdam appreciates the initiative to erect a hitch hiking stop.
Hitch hiking is a form of ecological travelling and a real alternative for people on a small budget. The lay-by at the B2 in direction of Michendorf lends itself, as from this place other long-distance routes can be easily reached. Moreover, a hitching stop increases the security for all concerned parties, as hitch hikers wouldn't have to stand right next to the street. Also, cars slowing down to stop for hitch hikers wouldn't interfere with the flow of the traffic.
The costs and the effort for the city play a small role. Since also the hitch hikers will take the chance to run errands there, the establishment of the stop could even become profitable for the shops in the train station.
We consider the City Council's approval of the plans desirable. Elsewise the chance to promote ecological travelling and to lead the way on national level - as it were to be the first hitch hiking stop in Germany - would be omitted.

[solid].potsdam supports the initiative for the establishment of a hitch hikers stop for the city of Potsdam. As a youth group, we appreciate this idea especially regarding to the fact that a big part of the young people of this city, more or less regularly, exercises this way of travelling for financial reasons, and will keep on doing so. The advantages of the establishment of such a stop are obvious, as it would not only ease the access to the concerned long distance roads considerably, but also increase the security for all the concerned parties in different aspects.
A quick causation of the accordant decision would be desirable, should the Leipziger Strasse (the B2, remark Jaehnert) in direction Michendorf, near Potsdam central station, turn out to be an appropriate site for this.

The VCD Brandenburg appreciates the idea of the establishment of a hitch hiking stop in Potsdam. Hitch hiking is another contribution to the efficient use of resources at hand and particularly for young people a convenient alternative to the use of private cars or trains.
